The Express: Sticky Wickets Review

Martin Townsend reviews the new Duckworth Lewis album "Sticky Wickets"

CD Review: The Duckworth Lewis Method - Sticky Wickets

A welcome return to the crease for Neil Hannon, late of The Divine Comedy, and Thomas Walsh, with a second album of songs loosely hung around cricketing lore, legends or sometimes, as on the glorious Out In The Middle, merely phrases associated with the sport.

They are masters of rock parody: It's Just Not Cricket and Third Man could have come straight off an ELO album, while Sticky Wickets is a mash-up of the Who and every psychedelic band you've ever heard. Great fun and just perfect with a jug of Pimm's and one of Johnner's cakes.

Verdict: 4/5
